Umbro Ireland

Toplion Sportswear (distributor for Umbro in Ireland) approached Magico in August 2009 to redesign their online offering to Sports Clubs, Team Managers and Schools around the country.

The brief was clear:

  • To provide those responsible for sports teams around the country with a facility to review the wide variety of sports wear available through the Umbro Brand in Ireland
  • Provide sports clubs with the facility to place enquiries online. Depending on their location around the country, a local rep is in receipt of enquiries and contacts the club to finalise sizes and personalisation prior to completion of the order.
  • To design an online presence that would compliment the Umbro catalogue in style and clarity
  • To communicate the Umbro Heritage and dedication to youth and teams around the country

Magico was keen that the design of the site retained the clean uncluttered style of the catalogue and so design elements from this were used to influence the design of the new site.

In their catalogue, Umbro.ie defined the layout of their product range according to the needs of their customers and it was essential that the new online presence reflected those requirements.

The site defines the Team Training Wear Category according to colour. Decisions on team wear will be driven by a team’s colours and so decision makers will want to see the entire range of team wear for those colours. As each piece of team wear is selected, customers are also provided with a variety of other colour options through Related Product Functionality so that if they wish to supplement their team wear with a different colour top they are aware of the other colours available


As with all Online Retailing Solutions, the provision of high quality product imagery is essential and this project is an example of the impact that good quality imagery can have on an eCommerce Website.
